BMW Car Sculpted from Bricks

Possibly the safest car ever made and the least efficient gas guzzler ever created...all in the same car. This BMW Z4 was sculpted from bricks with a steering wheel and doors that actually work. It is being sold for $93,000 by the Chinese artist who created it. Since it obviously doesn't run under its own power, I would imagine towing this brick artwork will turn more heads than any true BMW automobile would.

The artist's name is Dai Yun (source). He’s a Chinese sculptor from Xi’an, according to his bio on the Anni Art gallery Web site, and working in Shenzhen. He created the BMW out of bricks as part of his “Bricks Automobile” series. The series also includes a Mercedes-Benz SLK made out of red bricks and located in Shanghai.

Here is a video of the brick BMW z4.

In an interview with the Shenzhen Arts Web site, Mr. Dai said, “Brick is a popular building material our ancestors were familiar with in a farming society. In contrast, the automobile is a symbol of industrialization and the modern way of life. I hope the combination of these two things may evoke people’s thoughts on the two different types of civilization.”
